"I just got the collar cover for my dog. That was fast shipping and the little note enclosed was sweet and kind of you... thank you soooo much. Although I am overprotective of my Deaf dog Lyla, there is always that thought if something were to happen and she got lose how would anyone know she was deaf.... now they do! What a great product. I will pass it along to all my rescue group and animal lover friends! I also belong to a pet site... it will go over big in there... tons of rescue groups!" -Donna

Bailey

"I have bought your 'I'm Blind' collar and neckerchief for my dog and think they're great - Thank You. I've attached some photos of Bailey for you, he's a Wolfhound Cross Retriever. He and his dad were handed in to a rescue centre as the owner couldn't afford to feed him, he was kept in a back yard, they said he was useless and used a horse whip on him!!! I took him home and he was absolutely terrified of everything. After having him a couple of days I realized he had a problem with his eyes as he was walking into things and tripping up a lot - more than a 7 month old should do anyway!! A quick trip to the vets confirmed he has congenital cataracts, totally blind in his left eye and about 90% blind in his right. The only good news about his blindness is that he was born with it and it's not a result of his former life. The dog's home didn't notice, they just thought he was terrified because of his beatings. I'd already fallen in love with him by then and returning him never crossed my mind, so I did some research on the Internet and came across your site and a couple of other websites, most of the information on the web was text book and would be quite difficult to put in place at home, like having a water fountain instead of a water bowl, Bailey must drink a bucket of water a day - can you imagine the size of water fountain I'd need, my house just isn't big enough!!! so I thought I'd put a web site together with my experiences, solutions and observations. Maybe it'll help someone else who was as bewildered as I was at the beginning. www.baileysblind.co.uk Baileys really coming into his own now, he's getting more and more confident and turning into such a great dog, I think his blindness bothers me more than him." -Leanne in the UK

Bulldogs

"The Blind Dog t-shirts are a perfect fit and absolutely adorable! Below are my dog daughters. Graciela is the red head on the left and Beatrix is on the right. Beatrix was born blind with eyes that did not form correctly. She had to have the eyes removed before her first birthday. The "big eye" had cataracts, detached retina, hemorrhaging. The left eye just had eye tissue and eyelashes. The girls are littermate sisters."-Mary R.

"Sammy’s vest arrived safely and looks wonderful. THANK YOU!!!"
-With warm regards, Linda B.

Abby

"Just wanted to say thanks for such great service sending Abby her bandana. I've enclosed a Picture of her. She is very people shy and we recently adopted a new "sister" for her. We are hoping she will Help Abby become a little more secure. We go camping every weekend so they get socialized and because Abby is so cute, people don't understand that she can be so Shy. I'm sure she will get many compliments on her new attire." -Roberta M.

Maya

"We ordered an I'm Deaf collar cover for our 2 year old deaf Great Dane, Maya. We adopted Maya in December with the help of MAGDRL. Thanks for the quick shipment. We love how bright her collar cover is. It immediately explains her "visual" behavior to people and she has even made new friends because of it!  She always wears it when we take her out to 1) help people understand her should heaven forbid she get away from us and; 2) to explain to people why they have to sometimes get her attention since she is always scanning the area around her. We were in a Petsmart when a deaf couple came up to pet Maya. The man was also visually impaired. The woman would ask us questions then sign the info to the man while he felt her hand. Maya and the gentleman were kindred spirits as he hugged and petted her and she covered his face in sloppy kisses...he couldn't get enough of Maya. Thanks!" -Jean and Neil B.

"We just got Ludo's "blind dog" bandana today. It got here so quickly and was packaged beautifully. I was very happy with the quality and how easy it is to put on my Yorkie. This will make it easier to go out for him - people will know to speak to him before touching him so he is not startled. Thank you!" -Anna

Popper

"I want to thank you so much for the I'm Deaf collar cover for Popper. He's a 7 month old deaf Great Dane. It fits him wonderfully and will help me out a ton at the dog park. Everyone wants to know his name to call him over to pet him because he's just so cute and friendly, but I have to tell them he just can't hear them so that's why he's not turning around. Now they'll know when they see his gorgeous yellow collar cover! Thank you again!

I brought Popper home at 8 weeks not knowing he’s deaf. I’m not sure the breeder even knew. After talking with our vet about Popper being an extremely heavy sleeper and startling easily, we finally came to the realization that he is, in fact, deaf. We chose not to BAER test him only because we’re sure what the results will be. Currently Popper knows hand signals for "sit, down, and stop."

Popper

He’s very handsome and smart…and a devil dog!!  He has so much energy!  He picks on his Chihuahua sister daily for entertainment, but she keeps him in line.  He loves to go to the lake to swim and play with other dogs. He’s such a good dog!" -Christi B.

Edel

"Just had to share these photos of Edel modeling the coat we just received. She looks so cute I just had to share. She was a big hit at a local festival and the coat certainly helped everyone feel comfortable approaching her...along with those who just stood back at marveled at the deaf/blind dog strutting her stuff! She certainly opened some eyes.

Thank you for a wonderful, high quality product. I am telling everyone about you! Take care and keep up the good work! And thanks for supporting rescue!!!"

"I received the Lend-a-Paw harness today and it is great. Thanks so much." -Ida

"I love my Collar Cover I bought my dog Powder! I adopted her (APBT) from the shelter, knowing she was deaf, to save her life. She was quite aggressive when I met her. I worked with her for a couple weeks to mellow her out and they said no one would take her and her time was up. I had fallen in love with her and adopted her!! She is a doll!! Thanks!!" -Dena

"I want to thank you so much for the collar cover for Popper. He's a 5 month old deaf Great Dane. It fits him wonderfully and will help me out a ton at the dog park.  Everyone wants to know his name to call him over to pet him because he's just so cute and friendly, but I have to tell them he just can't hear them is why he's not turning around. Now they'll know when they see his gorgeous yellow collar cover! Thank you again!" -Christi

"I just placed an order for several more Donation Coats. The last two I ordered about a year ago have paid for themselves many times over!"

"We had a very full three days at the Super Pet Expo in Northern Virginia. Our Thankful Paws Donation Coats were the BEST and helped us raise a lot of money! We had a lot of people putting $10 and $20 bills in the Donation Coats. I think this is wonderful considering the amount of rescues that were there and that the economy isn’t great right now." -Nikki R.

"Thank you so much for the Donation Coat. It fits Otis perfectly!!"

"Thanks for the Blind dog bandanas. They are really lovely, and well made. Cheers." -Sue M. in England

"We had an outstanding Meet & Greet day for the second month in a row! It has to be because we have had so many beautiful dogs and people just HAVE to stop and donate! There are two other things that have helped too. One is the huge GREAT DANE RESCUE sign we put out on the corner to let everyone know we are there and Thankful Paw's amazing Donation Dog coats! We had three Donation coats today and all the dogs were working them like pros! We made $199 in donations and Dayna S. brought us another $85 in donations. For a total of $284!!!" -Nikki R.

Shane

"I could not be happier with the coats for Shane. This will be very helpful where I work, we manage a retirement village for senior citizens Seneca Hills Village in Penn Hills Pa. and Shane is always with us and the residents. Now when they see him and any visitors they know to approach Shane and say Hi. I'm proud to have donated to such a wonderful cause for blind dogs!! Keep up the good work!!"
Sincerely with great thanks,
Kim & Shane

"Barney wore his Donation Coat proudly and we worked the crowd non-stop for the two hours we were at Petsmart. We had to empty his Donation Coat pockets at least 4 - 5 times. Some folks gave 5-dollar bills, elderly women donated wads of 1-dollar bills, and little kids were stuffing money in his pockets. I had one man tell me he didn't have any cash on him but when he checked out, he would come back and make a donation. Sure enough, about 30-minutes later, he found me in the store, and put a $5-bill in Barney's pocket." -Kathleen B.

"I received the coats, vest, and summer saddle and they are wonderful. Everything fits great. You do great work and I will highly recommend you. Thanks again." -Cindy F.

Dozer

"I bought a coat for my Doberman Dozer a little while ago. Dozer wanted me to thank you, he LOVES his coat. I have always had a hard time getting him to got outside on a windy, cold day and getting him to play in the snow. I have a German Shepherd, and she loves to play in the snow, Dozer is now having fun with her because of the coat. Thank you!
-Heather, Dozer & his Shepherd sister Ixia

"We had an outstanding day at the Sterling, VA Petsmart Meet & Greet!!!! We had a ton of volunteers with their gorgeous dogs and they worked the crowd like never before! It’s amazing how well Thankful Paws Donation Coats do with donations. People were tripping over the dogs to put money in the coats! We had very generous people today and raised $165!! A huge thank you to all of the wonderful people that came out to help me today! I hope they will do it again next month so they can work their magic again!!!"
-Nikki R.

Thank you sooo much for allowing me to keep my boy warm." -Melodie and Chris

your help with it." -Dianne

Tawney

"We love your coats. Thanks so much!!! We just received the XSmall coat too and it is darling. We have had your coats on Bassets and our one legged dogs! and we love them. This is Tawny... she was at Whole Foods and people loved her and she was a great little ambassador. I found Tawny sitting in front of a convenience store about 10 years ago in Ohio. Someone had just dumped her there after she had puppies and she was waiting for them to return. They never did. She developed cancer in her leg, it was cut off, she went through Chemo and died one year ago this month. We miss her terribly, but she sure looked good in her coat from you guys and helped me raise lots of money for NJ Aid for Animals...She had a mission!"
- Kathy M., President of NJ Aid for Animals

"Just placed an order for our second Donation Dog coat. They are great! People love to put money in the pockets!" -Laurel T.

Mariner

"We received the I'm Blind bandanas today. They look great. Thank you. We ordered the small and the medium because our dog is only four months old and we know he will need the medium in a couple of months.

Mariner is a four month old Goldendoodle. When he was 9 weeks old he fractured his skull and lost his eyesight (he was still with the breeder). Although the breeder was wonderful and spent a lot of money for specialists, they were not prepared to keep him and were going to put him down if he no one adopted him. We have one of his older brothers Boomer, who is 2 years old (68 lbs) and a 1 year old "mini" female Goldendoodle (34 lbs), Shayna. After talking to our vet, John Palescandolo of Willow Brook Animal Clinic, we decided to adopt Mariner. He has been with us about three weeks now and is amazing how he has learned to navigate the house and the outside.

Again, thank you for the great bandanas."

-Andy & Sharon Rader

"I received the SPCA saddle, and it's great. Taylor and I went to our first Meet and Greet and he looked so handsome in his Donation Coat. All the people loved him, and we had to empty his pocket a few times. Thank you very much." -Terri T.

Georgia in her Winter Coat

"I got Georgia’s coat in the mail today… Just in time, because it is COLD here tonight! It looks just lovely on her. This evening when she went out for her after-dinner potty break, she didn’t want to hurry back in and I know it’s because she was warm and snuggly with her coat on. I am attaching a picture of her with it on! Thanks for helping us keep our arthritic Wobblers’ baby warm this Winter." -Allyson K.

"Thank you! We got Gus's winter coat today. He loves it and it fits perfectly. I'm going to be placing an order soon for our other dog, Agnes. She is quite jealous right now. Take care." -Kari G.

Grr Village - Dezy

"Hi!  I wanted to let you know that the Donation Coat we ordered for our first rescue event was a rousing success! As you know we use our "Ambassador for the Breed" - American Staffordshire Terrier (known to some as the pitbull) AKC Champion Two Spirits Desert Eagle of Gaff - commonly known as Dezy. As you can see in the attached photo, Dezy is quite the ham, and collected a large amount of cash donations for Grrr Village. We touted him as "Dezy the Amazing Money Pit".

In our next event we may just "sell kisses for $1" because Dezy loves to give kisses as well.

This coat was awesome, and we gave many people your web address and highly recommended you.

Thank you again for a great fundraising item.  We will be ordering more in the future!" -Julie

Marilyn

"Thank you very much for my beautiful coat. It will definitely come in handy when winter finally gets here. I will wear it with pride and tell all my Pug friends were I got it. Again thank you so much." -Marilyn, the Pug

Marilyn's story began in southern Ohio. She was picked up as a stray and taken to the pound. Her eye was ruptured, she had a big tear under leg that was gaping open and had a swastika bleached in her back. She was taken to a wonderful vet in Columbus who took her eye out and cleaned and stitched up her leg. We had her back shaved down in order to get the swastika off her back. Her fur is growing back now and may not have to be shaved again, I am giving serious consideration to adopting her myself. After all she has been through she is the sweetest Pug I know. Our website is www.ohiopugrescue.com.

"I received the dog "Adopt Me Please" bandanas. The bandanas are absolutely W-O-N-D-E-R-F-U-L! Thank you so very much for your prompt attention to our order. With Thankful Paws help, our dogs will be wearing their bandanas at this weekend's Pet Fair. I immediately had my Chihuahua girl model the sporty bandana and she looked especially, especially cute -- if that was even more possible! Again, thank you for making our dogs (hopeful) adoption your priority and providing a GREAT product to Mill Dog Rescue Network. If you have a chance, please go to our Mill Dog Rescue Network website: www.milldogrescue.org. May it bring a smile to your day knowing these are the beautiful dogs (searching for a home they always deserved) that will be wearing your bandanas. God bless you and Thankful Paws."
-Celia C.

-Sharon M. (STAAR South Texas Animal Adoption Resource)

"Once again we had an amazing Meet & Greet at the Oriole’s baseball game. We collected $692.46 in donations. It’s amazing to see people walk up with handfuls of $1 bills and put them in the dog’s Donation Coats. We really love the Summertime Saddles too. Not only do they keep the dogs from getting too hot, but they allow for more of the dog to be petted. When you are at an event this busy that’s important…" -Christina K.

"Just wanted to let you know that I love the Polo Shirt that says "Rescued Dogs Rock" on it! Tom likes the 2 shirts we got on your CafePress site too! Thanks for the great products!" -Tom and Jane W.

Taz

"I received the "Adopt Me Please" bandanas. I am going to give them to Noah's Arc, Inc. in Morristown, TN. www.noahsarc.petfinder.org This is a no-kill animal rescue that I am a member of and I also serve as the treasurer.

Here's a picture of my little dog, Taz, wearing the medium-sized bandana. It's a little big for him, but I needed a "model."  I hope these will increase our adoptions. Taz is a little dog from Noah's Arc that I took home in May to foster. Many people were interested in him, but when they found out that he has an enlarged heart and requires 3 pills per day, they quickly lost interest. He is so much fun with a lot of personality. I fell in love with him and decided to adopt him myself!

Thanks so much!" -Pamela H.

Meg with her Thankful Paws "I'm Blind" Bandana

Meg"The "I'm Blind" bandanas have arrived safely along with your lovely letter of support. It was so kind of you to send 2 of each size. The small ones fit Meg perfectly and the 2 medium ones we have given as a gift to my husband's father who owns a blind Collie called Tegan. The bandanas are a real blessing for her, so that people will know she has a disability.

Our little Lancashire Heeler Meg, had both eyes removed on the 10th July.
She is coping really well now she is home again and is walking on her lead
sporting her lovely new bandana when she goes out with us. Meg's life story is at www.dogster.com/dogs/591819.

Thanks once again for all your help and support."

Beaurigard

"Thank you for the collar cover. This gentle, wonderful boy is a stray we took in about 3 months ago. His name is Sir Beaurigard and he's about 12 or 13 years old, according to the canine opthamologist. He's been shot with a BB in the left eye (his retina is floating & the BB is visible on ultrasound) and he has a mature cataract in the right eye. With what little vision he has, he is AMAZING. This photo was taken after some play, pooped boy. I'm planning to have cataract surgery to give him a chance to see again (BIG decision). Thank you for your wonderful, considerate products." -Joanne S.

I can't even think of words good enough to say what a fantastic time we had at the Doggie Fashion Show in Freehold NJ!! Those Donation Coats are the greatest thing!! People were stopping us to talk about Jamie, one of our Danes In Need! Each one of the Danes wore a Donation Coat. I think we may need a drum roll for this...We collected $809!!!"

Max

"Here is a picture of Max wearing his I'm Deaf collar cover ~ he is sitting on our sofa with Goose our other Rescue Dane. Goose is 3 years old and tips the scales at 160 while Max at age 5 tips the scales at 187.

Max was born deaf, and was adopted by a couple who kept him until he was 5 years old. The couple never gave him any obedience training. When the couple had a baby, they decided that it was too dangerous for the baby to have Max around. They gave Max to Indian Dane Rescue in San Marcos, California. Poor Max was so sad. As any Dane family knows Great Danes are very attached to their humans and a deaf Dane is even more so. Max sat in front of the front door to Rene’s Home (Rene is the owner of Indian Dane Rescue) waiting for his family to come back and get him. Max stayed there for days on end not wanting to venture away from the door in case his family returned.

Rick and I had already adopted Goose, another Dane from Indian Dane Rescue, and we wanted to adopt another Dane. Rick was on business travel when Rene introduced me to Max, and it was love at first sight!  He is such a big guy and so very loving. When Rick returned from travel, "WOW" was all he could say.

Max bonded quite quickly with Rick and I, and he is slowly learning how to be a member of a family with other dogs and cats and doing quite well. Rick and I are using a combination of dog training hand signals and American Sign Language (ASL) to communicate and train Max. He is a very fast learner. However, when he doesn’t want to do something, he just simply turns his back on you like any child… – LoL! We have spray bottles filled with water all over our property, this way there is always one nearby if we need to get his attention. The squirt bottles have turned out to be the tool of choice to gain the attention of all of our animals. It doesn’t hurt and it gets their attention. Max is even learning how to ‘play’ with Goose and Shiloh (Shiloh is a Dane, Shepherd, Lab mix). The other dogs and cats are slowly figuring out that sound cues to Max like growls, snapping, or barks do not get his attention. I think this is a slower process for them to understand than for Max. Because Max is deaf, the sound of Rick’s riding lawn mower doesn’t bother or scare him, one of Max’s favorite activities is to run along side Rick when he is mowing the property.

We like having the ‘I’m Deaf’ collar cover on Max because we live in Ramona, California, which is prone to the annual fires in October and November. If there was an evacuation and Rick and I weren’t home we want to make sure rescuer’s know that Max is deaf and will not respond to yelling and calling. When we take Max out in public we make sure he is wearing his Bright Red ‘I am Deaf’ vest because he startles very easily when children run up to try to pet him. When he startles his bark/yelp is very loud and can be frightening to the unsuspecting and uneducated person. Max’s voice is different than other dogs who can hear, plus it is louder.

Having a deaf dog is no more difficult than having a dog that can hear. There are some minor adjustments ~ like how to get their attention when they are not looking in your direction but that has been easily overcome with squirt bottles or flashing lights pointed at him. So ~ please do not discount having a deaf dog in your family they are loving and deserving of a happy life as with any other animal." -Jill Z.

"We attended the Humane Society of Atlantic County event with Zeus, who was a big hit with the crowd. We found a $20.00 bill in his Donation Coat early on and then a $10 bill and by the end of the day we had collected $135.00 for our orphans." -Maureen & Staff B.

"The Adoption Coat worked wonders at our Meet & Greet event. Apollo was the only Dane there and did great with all of the people, kids and other dogs. And when I say people, I am talking circles of at least 10 people waiting around to pet him. He was petted non-stop and raised $185.81 - and to give you an idea of the number of people, of that $185 - $131 was in ones!"

It is a real attention getter, too. Last week the dog wearing the coat was adopted very quickly by a great new owner. The coat caught her eye. The dog wearing it stole her heart. Thanks for a super product and a great idea." -Joan A., Lucky Ones President

"We had an extraordinary day at the Annapolis, Maryland PETsMART. This was Napoleon's first Meet & Greet and he and Merlot, sporting Donation Coats, worked the crowd unmercifully. Thanks to their hard work, with Jupiter, Angel and Ethel backing them up, we collected a whopping $245!!! We also had several people who seemed very interested in adopting!!"
-Joan S.

"We spent the day emptying Merlot's Thankful Paws Donation Coat pockets of $1, $5, $10, and $20 bills! This is particularly meaningful because there were a host of other rescue groups at the PetSmart Meet & Greet. But we had the Thankful Paws coats...and we only had a single coat today, but I gotta tell you, besides the generous donation from the Steinfort's, almost $300 was stuffed into Merlot's pockets in a short 4 hour outing for a total of $400. They really do work wonders!!!!!" -Lissa S.

Furry Friends Network Dog

"The rescue I volunteer with just received a large Adopt Me Please coat. Riley Roo Roo is the first dog...she is a fat coonhound mix...65lbs. The second is my Wesley Dog, he is a large shep lab mix...85lbs-tall and lean. Like many of us in rescue, we always are looking for ways to raise extra cash...these donation coats are better than cans cause an adoptable dog will be wearing them!! People love to meet and greet dogs and read what is on the sides...great conversation starters!! Personally, I was surprised at the quality of this coat...I have seen others and thought this one was really well thought out...with removable donation band, extenders and big bright lettering it is a real winner!!"   -Kim F. Scooby in a Donation Team Vest"Hi Jody & Terry! Thought I would share with you what a great day we had at the Woolly Worm festival! The kids and staff worked very hard organizing our booth and activities. Our efforts to raise money for MAGDRL, and for a fund the children have established to send Christmas to Katrina's kids, were greatly enhanced by using your Donation Team vests and Donation Dog coat! The children LOVED the vests and waited patiently for their turn wearing them! These kids have proved themselves masters at fundraising through their animal advocacy group, H.E.L.P., and were just thrilled to have a fundraising team "uniform" they could wear out into the crowds while passing out flyers! It's a good thing the vests have 2 pockets because they filled up very quickly!
Rudy's Donation Dog coat with the Broadway Barks logo was just beautiful and worked so well for us that we were continually cleaning the pockets out to make room for more donations! This photo is my personal favorite..."Scooby" wearing one of your vests! Thank you so much for sharing this great tool with us.......We already have plans to order more vests and a couple of the child's aprons for the younger kid's to use." -Thanks again, Kathy S.

Deaf Dog MacKenzie

"I cannot begin to thank you for the special deaf dog collar covers, the custom size fits perfectly! MacKenzie wore hers today to visit her rescuers from Puerto Rico at the Save A Sato Reunion in Massachusetts, and it worked out great! We have in the past had problems with people or other dogs approaching and startling her because she does not hear them, but now all that has changed! The collar alerted the other dog owners that MacKenzie was deaf, and so they indeed approach with caution. As an added benefit, it attracted a lot of people who asked questions, and we were able to educate many people about the pleasures of owning a deaf dog, for most it was the first time they had met a deaf dog! We are so thankful that you offer these unique products for these special dogs. We did meet another deaf dog at the reunion, and passed along your website address!"
-Tracey G., MacKenzie and Baxter, the Satos

"We all had a wonderful time today at Oriole Park. They set us up inside the stadium, in the shade, but next to a gate so we had a nice breeze. We had tons of people playing with the Danes, asking about our rescue, and a few interested in adoption and fostering. We didn't sell much merchandise, only $84.50 worth, but thanks to the Donation Coats we had, we brought in $556.17 in donations!! It was incredible how fast the pockets on the coats filled up." -Christina K.

"We just received our new fleece winter coats from Thankful Paws. They are beautiful and so soft. Jake & Sally like them so much they didn't want to take them off when they came inside. They tried to go take naps all cuddled up in them. I'm going to have to try to find some blankets that feel as soft as these but will hold up to a lot of washings. Thanks Jody & Terry. You did a wonderful job." -Jennifer S.

"Maxine's new winter 'Burberry' style coat came today and it's LOVELY! You did a fantastic job. Ava is jealous and is now demanding I get her one. But she would try to eat hers I just know it!" -Stephanie D.

Max

"We got your beautiful and useful coat! It's going to be especially helpful since one of our foster Newfs, Shooter (rescued from a puppy mill) bloated.  http://www.petfinder.com/shelters/autumnacres.html.

His stomach torsioned over 360 degrees & he was in shock but luckily we caught it quick. Even then, it was touch & go for a while but he survived and is making an amazing recovery for a 5 year old who'd had a hard life.

As you can imagine, his medical expenses were considerable but worth it to let this poor dog finally have a chance for a good life. He'd never had any toys and now that he knows what they are, he plays with them just like a little puppy. The rescue group operates on a shoestring so every little bit Gomez and the coat can raise is going to be appreciated!

Update: Gomez & his coat raised $79.38 for Autumn Acres today when we walked around downtown for a few hours! Thanks so much!"
-Xavier & Gomez

"The winter coats arrived and they are beautiful!!!! And they fit great!!! They look so cute!!! I put Dakota’s on first and my husband said he looked like Sherlock Holmes, and then I put Nevada’s on and he said that he looked like Watson!! Thanks you so much!!"  -Cathy D.

"Those donation coats make such a hit. We put one on my guy, Zeke, and couldn't believe the $20 bills people would put in the pocket. Anyway, we only have 1 coat. I'd like to order 4 more." -Cathy G.

"I got the coats today.  They are wonderful!  Falkor's is a little big, which is what we wanted.  Falkor spun in circles trying to figure it out and Fenway stood dead still.  I'm sure once the weather turns colder they will love them..." -Christina K.

"We had a great day at the PETsMART in Annapolis, MD. Merlot personally greeted every person that came into the store. She was such a hit in her Donation Coat that we raised $93 in donations!" -Joan S.

"We had beautiful weather for the Howard County, MD Pet Expo. The dogs were amazing and patient the entire day. We got a lot of attention and spoke with many people. We sold $87.50 in merchandise and brought in another $84.30 in donations thanks to the dogs in their Donation Coats." -Heather T.

"At the Waldorf, MD PETsMART Meet & Greet, Casper was our donation Ambassador and did a great job by collecting $151.02. Casper was laying down and a young boy knelt down to pet him and asked why Casper had dollars in his vest. I told him they were donations to help all of the dogs in our care. He looked at me and said "wow, really?" and dug into his little pockets and pulled out all the change he had and placed it in Casper's donation vest. While I was fighting back tears, I told the little boy to look at my Meet & Greet notebook so he could see all the of the dogs his money was going to help. He had a big smile on his face!" -Linda M.

"We had a GREAT day at the Westminster, MD PETsMART. Thanks to the generosity of many shoppers who visited with us, we raised $114.16. One little boy stopped back several times to see us and insisted that his mother give him money to put in the dog's Donation Coat pockets on each visit he made. He was very persistent and we're very grateful!" -Jody C.

"We had a fairly busy day at our Woodbridge, VA Meet & Greet. We used the Donation Coat for the first time and I'm happy to say it REALLY helped. We received $66 in donations. Here's a photo of Moose and Rocky wearing the donation coat and oozing charm to raise money for the Danes In Need." -Laura M.

"The only steady stream we had was the RAIN!!! What a day! This was our first time setting up a Meet & Greet at Rusty's Place in Ringwood, NJ. I have to say that it is one of the nicest pet stores I have ever been in!! The owners were so nice. They apologized for business being slow but of the dozen people that came in the store two of them saw that we would be there from our website and came to seriously inquire about adopting. For such a slow day we did great with those two inquiring families and $51.00 collected in donations from Dakota wearing his donation coat!!!" -Cathy D.

Caesar in his Winter Coat

"Thanks again for making the coats. Caesar looks great in them!" -Regina M.

Caesar was officially measured recently to see if he would break the Guinness Book of World Records for the Tallest Dog. As you can imagine, Caesar requires VERY LARGE COATS!! While we all wished and hoped Caesar would top 42.2,” it wasn’t to be. Caesar was just shy of the record by .7 of an inch.

Caesar's story:
Caesar was turned over to the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc. early in his life. He was purchased from a breeder and shortly after joining his new family, Caesar began to drag his left hind leg. After months of consultations with various veterinarians, it was determined that Caesar had injured his hip at an early age and would require a total left hip replacement or he would have to be euthanized before he turned 3 years of age as the arthritis and pain would get much worse. The family called the breeder and the breeder was willing to take Caesar back but would euthanize him. The family loved him and didn’t want to see that happen so they contacted the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc.

The rescue league agreed to give Caesar a chance in life. Even through all of his pain, Caesar displayed the typical friendly Great Dane personality. After many fundraisers and generous donations from the public, Caesar underwent a hip replacement and aqua therapy classes.

He was adopted by the Morgan family in Maryland and became certified as a Therapy Dog. Caesar is a blood donor with the Eastern Veterinary Blood Bank in Maryland and because of his size, he can donate 1 unit of blood per visit for his fellow canines in need. Caesar especially loves his bimonthly visits with the patients and staff at The Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC.

Thankful Paws Table

Thankful Paws Donation Coats & Apparel had a wonderful time at the 5th Annual Parade of Paws fundraiser in Millersville, Maryland on October 15, 2005. This annual fundraiser is hosted by the Mid-Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, Inc. and includes a walk through the lovely park, fun contests and games, spectacular raffle, vendors, food, rescue organizations and demonstrations.

We met many wonderful pets and their owners, dedicated rescue volunteers, and friendly vendors.

Everyone was very accommodating as we tried our sample coats on dogs of the tiniest sizes to the giant breeds. We met several deaf dogs, blind dogs, and a couple of dogs who are deaf and blind. They were the inspiration for our new line of collar covers specially made for dogs who are both deaf and blind. We held a raffle drawing for a "Donation Dog" or "Adopt Me Please" coat and the lucky winner was Xavier with "Gomez," who is a big supporter of Newfoundland Rescue and an All Breed Rescue organization.
